Classic Cars

The Decatur Photography Meetup Group gathered at the annual Classic Car Show at the Southeaster Railway Museum in Duluth. After a week of rain, the cloudy but dry skies were welcomed with many shiny cars.

The first car I ran across was one of my favorites, a ‘71 Monte Carlo. There were a couple of these ‘70-’72 models in the high school I was in and I have always been a fan. The closest I have gotten to owning one was a ‘79 that I crashed on the way to my 2nd semester in college. The owners also had a red mustang sitting next to it.

In keeping with the theme of red were beautiful examples of a Cutlass 442 and Chevy Impala. I didn’t capture the shot of the Impala tail lights I wanted, but the incredible “checker-dotted” interior came through. I didn’t do justice to the Chevy between them either.

The Stingray with the side pipes also hit the olde school favorite vibes. Even though it is not the correct “Bandit” coloring, the Trans Am was in great condition. I don’t think either of these cars worried about MPG.

I tried my hand with some different perspectives and angles and frames to get some artsy shots. The stuffed bear was a little to close to the steering wheel to get a great capture, but I am really pleased with the shot of the Chevy through the Trans Am hood scoop hole.

I also shot some of these cars in B&W film. I am anxiously awaiting those to finish processing. But this is jsut a random assortment of shots from different perspectives. Since this was my first car show, I tried to see what works and what doesn’t.
The Hudson at the bottom was especially nice and has a few other pictures in the artsy section. The desaturated version screams gangster car to me …

I am at a loss for words about this … automobile. Pretty much everyone else was also. I assume this truck makes the round at the car shows as it was a big hit. And when the zombie apocalypse comes, he will be ready!
