Forcing Pass

Once an auction is game forcing or we have freely bid a game, a pass over interference is forcing.  The opponents may not play an undoubled contract.  Both pass and double show specific information.

In general, a forcing pass shows a lack of quick losers in the opponents suit at the relevant level of our required bid.  A double would show the quick losers.  For example:

1S - P - 2C - 2D
P   - P - 2S  -P
4S - 5D - ?

A Pass at this point would show less than 2 quick losers in Diamonds.  A double would show at least 2 quick losers in their bid suit.

This method is applicable at higher levels with the appropriate number of quick losers.  For example:

1S - P  - 2N - P
3S - P  - 4N - P
5S - P  - 6S  - P
P  - 7C - ?

Pass =  1st round control of Clubs
X     =  No first round control of their suit.
